Where are you located?
We are located just outside the township of Lady Lake, Florida. This is a home based business so there is little overhead and we can offer the best prices to our clients. We serve the tri-county areas of Lake, Marion and Sumter Counties which includes ALL of The Villages. We have many references from very satisfied clients in The Villages.

How long have you been in this business?
We have conducted business in this area of Florida since 1998. When the CEO of Practical Computer Services first started out his business was named Victory Graphics and Services. Since this name did not communicate well the areas we found ourselves drawn to by our clients, we changed the name to better communicate our services.

What are the prices for your computer services?
Please see the following page for our basic list of services: Service Descriptions

Do you give your clients anything when they make a referral?
YES! When we give a client several business cards and they hand one of them to friends telling them to give us a call, and if that person becomes a client then we give the referring client an 18% discount on their next computer service call.

Do you have holiday specials?
YES! We do Christmas/Hanukkah specials. We provide two free hours of tutoring for New Computer Setups. These free hours may be taken at any time the client wishes and do not need to be used at that same time. He/she can take an hour of tutoring one day and the second hour later.

Usually as a special for existing clients, we give a free computer checkup during the month of December and January.

How do you handle emergencies?
Emergencies are handled on a first call first service basis. We try to get to you on the same day you call. Most of the time we can get to you within an hour or two, depending on the amount of calls we are servicing and if we are in your area.

Weekend emergencies services start at $40 per hour.

Some emergencies cost more due to the nature of the call and depend on whether we have to reschedule other clients in order to service the emergency call. It is something we are willing to do in order to keep a client/company up and running with as little down time as possible.

How do you conduct your instruction/tutoring of someone?
Many computer centered tutoring services do not always allow the client to sit in their own chair and, with patience, walk the client through, step by step until the client has mastered the skills he/she are seeking to learn.

Our company prides itself on the joy of learning. We show the client how the skill is performed and some of the possibilities he/she have to look forward to. We then have the client seat himself/herself in their own chair and perform the task(s) until he/she has mastered it. We are patient and we will answer every question, no matter how minor or involved the answer may be. We will make sure you understand and will explain everything in laymen’s terms. There is a joy in learning and in teaching—we seek to provide the experience in both.

We suggest the following books:
Easy Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Easy Microsoft Windows Vista
Easy Microsoft Word 2003 or 2007
Easy Microsoft Excel 2003 or 2007

How long will it take me to learn what I want you to teach me?
Most clients need only one or two sessions of two hours each to master a skill or program they wish to learn. Others will take longer, because the program or skill may be more involved and takes longer to master. We have had clients who want to learn PowerPoint for their work, master the program in two, two hour sessions. Others have taken longer because they wanted to learn more or they were having a tough time mastering some of the concepts.

If we find that the client is not grasping the concept or skill they wish to achieve, we redirect and reformat the learning session into smaller bite size segments and use different definitions to help him/her learn.

We also suggest certain books for the client to purchase for their learning session and encourage them to try these new learned skills on their own. If they mess something up by accident, there is no need to worry because we will fix the problem on our next visit and will not charge the client for the software issue, so long as it was done in the program we were teaching and done while they were trying to learn on their own.

Do you just set up the computer and that’s it?
NO! Setup includes an hour of basic training on the computer which must be used at the time of the setup. If this hour is not used it is forfeit and further instruction must be purchased as tutoring. During Christmas time we offer all setups of new computers (even old ones if you are moving into a new location and bringing it with you) two (2) free hours of tutoring, which can be taken at any time which is convenient to the client.

What is a Webmaster?
A Webmaster is an individual who manages a Web site. Depending on the size of the site, the Webmaster might be responsible for any of the following: making sure that the Web server hardware and software is running properly, designing the Web site, creating and updating Web pages, replying to user feedback, monitoring traffic through the site.

What are your prices for Website Design and/or Webmastering?
We offer pricing plans at a reasonable rate. Since every website is different and the needs of each client are unique, it is difficult to quite a single 'one price fits all.' Please phone us to set up a face to face appointment for a website consultation. We will do everything we can to meet your needs and budget.

Do you do onsite repairs?
YES! If they are not major issues we can do most basic repairs. However, if it is a major issue we will refer you to a computer repair shop that specializes in the issue your hardware is experiencing. Not all repair shops can work on HP or Compaq or Gateway or Dell computers. If you are experiencing a network problem we are usually able to find and repair these issues without difficulty. B
